Baeldung Weekly Review 29

At the very beginning of 2014 I decided to track my reading habits and share the best stuff here, on Baeldung.

2014 has been quite the year, covering each week with a review. I’ve been doing a lot more reading to make sure I cover and curate stuff that has value and is actually worth reading.

Let me know in the comments if you’re finding my reviews interesting and useful.

Here we go…

1. Spring and Java

A quick and practical intro to building microservices with Spring. It touches on some interesting stuff, definitely worth a read.

>> OpenJDK Requesting Community Feedback on Java 9 Features [infoq]

An in-depth interview on some of the changes in Java 9 as well as how the community can participate and shape the release.

>> Spring Data JPA Tutorial: Creating Database Queries With Named Queries [petrikainulainen]

The next installment in the Spring Data JPA series – further exploring the various ways you can define queries.

>> Writing Clean Tests – Java 8 to the Rescue [petrikainulainen]

Testing on steroids – I’m liking the new approach.

>> Tomcat’s Default Connector(s) [bozho]

A very quick intro to the connectors available in Tomcat and the tradeoffs between them.

2. Technical and Musings

Oh, I like this piece. It’s a very worthwhile talk by itself, but the meta stuff is even more interesting.

This is how you get better and public speaking.

>> Let’s Put Some Dignity Back into Job Seeking [daedtech]

Resumes can be a messy affair. That being said, hiring – solid, well matched hiring – is a tough nut to crack.

4. Pick of the Week

Earlier this year I introduced the “Pick of the Week” section here in my “Weekly Review”. If you’re already on my email list – you got the pick already – hope you enjoyed it.

If not – you can share the review and unlock it right here:

I’m learning a lot from the way Troy Hunt operates and puts out work – and this is a good entry point into all of that good stuff:
